Now Tell Everyone

A supporting communications plan is a great way to get everyone involved, but for many, this is the hardest part!

First you need to identify all of the different audiences that you are trying to communicate with. See the infographic picture in the resource file as your checklist.

Then you need to develop the messages so try these six headings as a starting point.

Using these prompts, write just one sentence for each, focusing on the most important and motivational information that your staff will need:

  1. What - What are we going to do?
  2. Who - Who is going to do what?
  3. When - When are we going to do it?
  4. Why - Why are we doing this?
  5. Where - Where will this plan take us?
  6. How - How are we going to do it?

These six headings should give you the structure of your communications plan - at its simplest it's six sentences on a piece of paper issued to all staff. But, don't forget, the personal touch goes a long way when communicating, so try and discuss your plans face to face with staff wherever possible.
