2.4.6 Apply the procedures regarding the modelling of a floor header

(H2K, Sect 7.5)

  • Floor Header Label:
    • Use this field to assign an identifying label to the floor header (e.g. "Addition", "2nd floor", etc.) or leave at the default.
  • Floor Header Type:
    • header construction which will be used to calculate the thermal resistance of the assembly.
    • Select a User-defined or Favourite Code, or use the Code Selector.
    • When using the Code Selector for modelling, make selections from all applicable drop downs to define the house component.
    • Use Insulation Layer 1 to model framing cavity insulation and Insulation Layer 2 to model a continuous layer of insulation.
  • Location:
    • Specify the component in which the header is located.
  • Height:
    • Enter the vertical height of the header from the bottom of the joist to the top of the floor above.
  • Perimeter:
    • Enter the interior length of the header.
  • Area:
    • The Area field is calculated by HOT2000 based on the Height and Perimeter entered.
  • R-Value:
    • This field will be automatically populated based on the way the code is defined.
