Many times repairs are neglected due to lack of time or skill or maybe both. Some simple repairs become bigger problems later. This is the case of replacing a bathtub drain. I noticed over time that rust was appearing from under the drain flange. I know that I have a steel porcelain tub and any break in the outer coating exposed the metal to air and water which results in rust and eventually a leak in the tub. That is why this is an important repair to avoid tearing out the tile in the future and replacing the whole bathtub.
