Step 2: Remove the Old Drain
- Remove any debris from the drain.
- Insert the forked end of the flange wrench over the cross (+) in the drain. Turn counter-clockwise to loosen. You can also use a pair of needle nosed pliers. Spread the pliers open in the cross (+) and turn using both hands.
- Remove the drain flange and remove any old plumber's putty. Pull the black gasket from under the hole in the tub
- Use a soft scouring pad to remove the rust. A grease cleaner made needed like Greased Lightning.
