Epidemic in most states in US is related to the infected meat,eggs and milk products. For example, eating raw tomatoes have lead to food poisoning. It is usual to eat raw fruits and vegetables. However, hundreds of people had diarrhea, fever and stomachache in 30 southern and middle western states for eating the raw tomatoes which are imported from Mexico. Dozens of people had to go to hospital for the serious symptoms and a few patients even died. American's Centers for Disease Control(CDC) found the reason that patients who had eaten the tomatoes were found salmonella by Salmonella test. So it is the salmonella that leads to the serious epidemic.
