You are now familiar, from the last chapter, with the elements that make up an online store. From this chapter, you are also familiar with the common and not so common theme features. Now it's up to you to find the best theme for your store.
A lot depends on what you are going to sell and your brand. With these in mind, the number of themes suitable will be significantly reduced. Choose a first selection of themes that catch your eye while going through the theme store. Then go deeper - read the documentation to understand better how you will be able to customize the themes and see which theme will ultimately satisfy your needs.
If you have questions on a theme, it's worth sending in a question to support. You can see who is supporting the theme (Shopify or the theme developer) on the theme description page.
If you find a theme that you love but want to adapt it further than
the settings will allow, you can always contact support or the
theme developer. Or if you want to develop a brand new theme for
your store, there is a great community of designers and developers
available in the Shopify
Experts Directory. You can see examples of their work and read
reviews written by their existing clients.
In this section, we've explored the theme store and looked at the common and not so common features found in the available themes. You should now be able to make a shortlist of suitable themes for your store.
In the next few sections, we are going to return to the admin and look at the next steps in the creation of your store. Next stop - products!
