Types Of Bonds

There are several types of bonds:

Corporate bonds are issued by companies and offer higher interest rates.

Municipal bonds are issued by states and municipalities. Municipal bonds can offer tax-free income from interest.

U.S. Treasury bonds (more than 10 years to maturity), notes (1-10 years maturity) and bills (less than one year to maturity) are collectively referred to as simply "Treasuries." These bonds provide you with interest. The longer the time period invested, the higher the interest rate.

Savings Bonds (no interest, purchase at less than face value and wait until mature)
