I recently read about a company that was selling Widgets at a deeply discounted rate - beating the price of all their competitors by a mile. They weren't buying wholesale in bulk, they were a small business that found a loophole in Widget acquisition regulations which allowed them to price their Widgets at a cheaper rate. While I am not a fan of operating in loopholes (because they often get closed) this business has experienced amazing results.
This example can be applied to many businesses - you don't need a legal loophole to succeed. What services or products can you offer that are in demand or that are going to be in demand?
Walgreens recently made a decision to create a home-delivery service for customers in some areas. This decision was based on the knowledge that "delivered-to-your-door" services are going to continue to grow exponentially in the near future.
Where can your business fit to fill a need of your customers? It might not even be something that your business sells. Walgreens isn't a delivery company - they are a retail store and pharmacy, but a offering a convenient delivery services allows them to increase sales and is very marketable.
