Danny Kim

Danny Kim makes things: musical instruments, eyeglasses, bicycles, surfboards, apparel, and more. This DIY attitude led to a year-long project completely redesigning, re-engineering, and rebuilding a pair of Land Rover Defenders, converting to a biodiesel drivetrain and more than doubling their efficiency to 32mpg.

A year spent traveling the world and a near-death experience during the Land Rover project inspired the concept of "cutting the car in half" to produce a small, efficient, safe commuting vehicle. Building upon his biology and physics studies at Reed College and architecture studies at UC Berkeley, Danny pursued a degree in Industrial Design and Sustainable Transportation at the Rhode Island School of Design. He began fundraising while finishing his degree, and relocated to San Francisco in 2010 to found Lit Motors. He and his team are currently revolutionizing personal transportation by designing, developing, and manufacturing a fully-electric self-balancing two-wheeled vehicle, codenamed "C-1".
