Evan was the first hire and lead developer of Odeo.com through the pivot to Twitter. From there he was architect at Yahoo Brickhouse where they built the social location platform, Fire Eagle.
He's spoken extensively on startups, software development, media, social change. Past speaking engagements include: Web 2.0 Expo, OSCON, Rails Conf, XTech, Mobile Active, Emerging Telephony Conference, Emerging Communications Conference and more. He found a coworking space in Montevideo, UY and was running his own companycuboxlabs.com since 2008. Few month ago it was acquired by New Context a Digital Garage Company.
Sam McAfee is Director of Web Engineering at Change.org, a rapidly expanding, profitable social venture whose mission is to empower anyone, anywhere to create the kind of change they want to see in the world.
His primary focus at Change.org has been integrating mature agile delivery practices with Lean Startup approaches to product development. Before joining Change.org, Sam spent a decade running a boutique web development consultancy, which specialized in rapid application development, agile training and coaching, and consulting on lean startup and customer development methods.
Melissa currently leads UX for BloomBoard, an education technology company building tools to improve the way teachers receive professional development. With her current team, she's been experimenting with different ways to optimize how design and research fit into the product development process.
Prior to BloomBoard, Melissa led UX for Milo, a local shopping startup that was acquired by eBay in 2010. Before that, she spent 4 years doing both UX Research and UI Design at Google, focusing on Google Voice, Google Analytics, and Google Adwords.
Melissa's background includes a blend of Psychology, Computer Science, and Human-Computer Interaction. As a generalist, she's had the pleasure of contributing to each phase of the product development process, from discovery research to implementation. She has a special place in her heart for products that simplify complex data sets to help consumers make decisions in the real world. When Melissa isn't working, she can be found tinkering with tech, art, or video games.
