Verifying Smart Card Authentication

After you have set up smart card authentication or when authentication is not working correctly, review the configuration. If you make any changes, you must restart View Connection Server. See the documentation provided by your smart card vendor for information on configuring smart card software and hardware.

Verify that each client system has

  • Horizon Client
  • Smart card middleware
  • Smart card with a valid certificate
  • Smart card reader

Check the log files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VDM\log on the View Connection Server or security server host for messages stating that smart card authentication is enabled.

After configuration verification, you can plug your smart card into your client machine and use it to log in to your remote desktop with your PIN. After you log in, you can view the entitled desktops.
