GEO-Placement Program

• The GEO-Placement Program is designed to help small companies
  in Alberta employ Highly Qualified Personnel (
  HQP) in the development or commercialization of geomatics technology.
• It focuses on positions requiring MSc. or PhD graduates in geomatics-related fields or positions focusing on sales and marketing. (Depends on current call for proposals)

Funding Amount?

A non-repayable grant of 50% of the position salary, up to $50K, for the first year of employment.

Who's Eligible?

Company:

• Open to Alberta small businesses and startups working on the commercialization of geomatics technology.

• Projects must provide full-time employment for at least one new Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP). Priority will be given to projects offering multiple new HQP positions.

Hire:

• Resident of Alberta during the funding term.
• Must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree in the field in which they are working. (Applications with HQP candidates having a degree at a post-graduate level are given preference)
• Intended for long-term employment with the company.

How to Apply?

• Call for Proposals process that takes less than 4 months. Application form can be found on the TECTERRA website.

• Call for Proposals will state whether there is funding available MSc. or PhD graduates in geomatics-related fields or positions focusing on sales and marketing.

Company Can Also Claim SR&ED Tax Credit?

Yes, the company can claim their portion of the salary if the hire works on SR&ED-eligible work.
