Links - Adding Hyperlinks & URL's

Within the text of a page or section, you can add hyperlinks out to external sites, or to other pages in your Guide, or even out to other Guides! All you need is a valid URL and your copy & paste skills.

To add a hyperlink to a website...

  • Click on the "Insert link" icon in the task bar, then click on "Insert Link". The icon looks like a chain. See the picture below...
  • Another window will open that looks like this:

The pull-down menu allows you to link to a page within your Guide. This allows users to strategically jump around the content to ensure complete comprehension.

You can also insert at URL in the space provided. As long as the web page you've referenced is active, the hyperlink will open a the page for the user. In case you want the link to open in a new tab don't forget to check the box 'Open link in new tab'!

To finish, click "INSERT" and the hyperlink will appear in your page.

NOTE: You can also create hyperlinks to specific words on your page. Just click-and-drag across the word or phrase you want to link to, and then click on the 'link' icon. This is especially useful to reinforce ideas or concepts that need extra thinking time.
