If you weren't able to call the right person up and are going to email them, make sure to keep your initial email very short.

You want to get them interested in talking to you, so focus on the benefits and ask them to respond / contact you. Ask them if you can send them more information.

You should be tracking this email to see if they open it or not as that will dictate future action (you don't want to be the guy/girl that continuously sends the same style of email "touching base" about your last email).
