Now that you have updated your website content by following the steps in our previous support pages, you are ready to Publish and get your website appearing in search results.
Remember, even after your website has been Published, you still
need to wait anywhere from 1 - 3 months for Search Engines to crawl
and index your website. This is normal and should be expected.
Once the website is indexed, this is no guarantee that Google, or
other Search Engines, will decide to rank you very highly within
the search results. You PageRank depend on many of the factors
discussed within our previous pages. Achieving a good PageRank can
be a long and slow-moving process, but the Wix team will continue
to try to offer you the best SEO advice possible.
The following are a few suggestions we would like to share that can
help your website get indexed as quickly as possible.
1. Allow Search Engines to find my site
The first step is to check that you have selected 'Allow Search Engines to find my site' within your website SEO settings.
Simply Click on the Settings icon to the right of your website
editor > SEO (Google) > Click the toggle > Done.
Don't forget to save your changes!
If you do not change the toggle, then a "noindex" tag will be
placed within your websites code that informs Search Engines that
you do not wish to have the pages of your website placed on the
index.
If you have already Published your website, but noticed that this
check box was not selected - no problem. Simply select it now, save
your changes and Publish the website again.
2. Submit your website to Search Engines
A good way to let Search Engines know that you're ready to
appear within their search results is to submit your websites to
them directly.
You can easily submit your website to Search Engines by clicking
the following links:
Google
Bing
3) How can I tell if my website has been indexed?
Remember, it can take anywhere from 1 - 3 months for your site
to be crawled and indexed in order to appear in Search Engines such
as Google or Yahoo. This waiting period is the same for all
websites, not just those created using Wix.
To see if Google has indexed your website, as well as the last time
this happened i.e. to see a cached version of your website, enter
your website's URL with the word 'cache:' before it in the Google
search. For example:cache:www.mydomain.com - If your website comes
up, this means Google has already indexed it.
Bing and Yahoo! don't offer this option. To check if your site has been cached with Bing or Yahoo!, type the full URL in the search box (e.g., www.mydomain.com) and search for it. In Bing, click the green arrow next to the URL to see the cached version and in Yahoo click the word "cache". If no arrow or word "cache" appears next to the site, the site hasn't been cached recently. It may have been cached once and so appears in the index because it is actually there, but there has been no recent cache.
If your website has not been crawled and it has been less than 3
months since publishing, don't worry - give it a little time and
try again.
Alternatively, you can help speed up this process by submitting
your website to Search Engines directly as outlined above.
