See Beyond The Technology

As mentioned in the hindrance section, fear of technology, a flippant attitude of apathy and underestimating or outright ignoring the online interactive community can become a roadblock in an agent effectively using Web 2.0 techniques. Thus the first step to overcoming obstacles to becoming a REALTOR® 2.0 is to move beyond focusing on the challenges and time commitment associated with learning and using a foreign technology but rather to focus on the ultimate purpose that the technology will serve (Kiron, 2012, p. 5).

Focusing on the nuances of the technology can actual demotivate, especially for an agent that is already taxed managing the day-to-day operations of real estate sales (Kiron, 2012, p. 5). The purpose behind the technology, not the actual technology itself, will serve to daily motivate real estate practitioners to use and perfect their Web 2.0 techniques. The real estate agent must therefore start with the end in mind by asking, "What is the ultimate goal of my using Web 2.0 in my specific business?" This answer should return to the four tenets mentioned earlier and expound upon them based on the needs and demands of one's particular real estate clientele.
