The Building Code has a comprehensive, alphabetical INDEX in the last pages of the publication. It looks like this:

Note how the alphabetic listing includes subheadings and numerical identifiers. The number classification beside the topic / subject relates back to the Table of Contents and the different Parts of the Code.

If you know the specific topic you need to learn about, you can search for it by the first letter of the key word. You'll need to think about how your topic might be listed in the Index.

For example, say we're looking for information on spacing of Floor Framing. The Code would express this topic as "Maximum Spacing for Floor Joists in Residential Construction ", so we have a few options for search words:
