For a solo trial or benchmark: no. A personal Guides account is enough.
| Account type | When you need it | API key location |
|---|---|---|
| Personal (default) | Solo use, evals, agent notebooks, client workshop before deploy | Studio → Connect an AI |
| Org portal | Multi-user workspace, branded hub, deployed client library | Portal → Settings → Integrations |
When you register on guides.co, you get a personal account automatically. New accounts receive a Notebooks shelf - agent drafts land here. For client projects, add a named shelf (e.g. "Lake Assoc - WIP").
Portals publish guides to members. Add one when the pilot becomes deployment - or create early and use the org key for portal-native editing.
Building for a client with AI? → AI workshop workflow.
Simulating a client org? → Guides AI - Testing.
Scope: Personal keys and ChatGPT OAuth see personal-account guides only - not another org unless you use their integration key.
