Find a Dentist!

First, you want to choose a dentist who you will visit for your routine exams, preventive care and more extensive treatment, if needed. It is strongly recommended that you select a dentist who participates in your dental plan's network for the following reasons:

  1. More savings: You will maximize your out-of-pocket savings by using an in-network dentist as they agree to discounted fees that you may not receive from an out-of-network dentist.
  2. It's required for network-only plans: If you are enrolled in a network-only plan, such as a Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) or Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), you may only receive coverage for services on your plan through a participating network dentist.
  3. Receive maximum coverage: Some dental plans offer less coverage when using an out-of-network dentist. For example, a plan may cover a cleaning at 100% when using a participating dentist but may only cover 80% for that cleaning when using an out-of-network dentist.

To find a participating dentist, visit your dental plan's website and look for the

online dentist search tool. You can also contact your dental plan administrator for guidance or to request a print directory.

Once you've selected a dentist, make an appointment for a cleaning and exam. Keep in mind that you will want to schedule your appointment on or after your plan effective/eligibility date so you are covered.
