Guides helps you keep your information private and secure, and only available to the people you want it to see. Below provides an overview of how permissions work.

| Organisation | Public | Only spaces and guides that are public will be visible to the user |
| Member | Joining an organisation as a member gives access to all open spaces and public guides. NOTE: for access to private spaces any member will need to be separately invited. |

| Space | Public | Anyone on the internet can access and join this Space. |
| Open | Anyone who is a member of the organisation or has been invited directly can access this Space. Upgrade to Teams to invite external people to an open Space. |

| Private | Only people who have been invited to this space have access. Upgrade to Teams to start private Space. |

| Guide | Public | Anyone on the internet can read the Guide |
| Private | Only people invited have access. This Guide can only be added to private or open Spaces. |
Guides uses permission hierarchy so a Guide that is created in a private or open Space will automatically be set to private (which can be changed). Similarly, a Guide that is created in a public Space will be initially set as public (which can be changed).
