One of the most effective ways to popularize your pins is with the description. You can write a description of up to 500 characters for every individual pin you post. These descriptions can include:

• Additional instructions
• Notes and commentary
• Usage/care information
• Source credits
• Links and locations

Research from Hubspot's Dan Zarella showed that the most repinned and commented-on pins have descriptions of around 200 to 300 characters, while those with no descriptions had almost no repins.
