Restoring The Check Dam

The third structure was a 30 ft. long stone check dam, with a height of 8-10 ft. in the riverbed. A lot of water used to drain out from the sideways drain. The restoration work involved creating a proper spillway, construction of 6 x 8 x 3 ft. stonewall and construction of a 30 ft long bund with stone pitching. The riverbed at this site was de-silted and deepened up to 5 ft. depth, 200 ft. width and 300 ft. length. This work was done with the help of District Collector who provided the required machinery for bed deepening and de-silting.
