Flowing Rivulet

The people confided that the rivulet was completely dry during the summer months before the project had completed work on the three check dams (only part of the planned activities). In other words, a dry seasonal stream has been revived at least a small stretch of its full course and water is available through the year as a permanent storage. Though the work has not been fully completed, the increased water storage in the river has helped recharge more than 27 wells, some of which are up to 3 km. away from the river. Water level of dug-wells increased by three to four meters, indicating a significant rise in the water table. In January 2014, three new tube-wells were bored, water being available at a depth of 45 feet. It may be noted that in October 2012 most wells and tube-wells in the four villages were completely dry.
