There are a number of ways to include images within a Guide. The most common place is within a Page directly, but you can also add images to Section headers, and within Tips. The process for each of these image embeds is slightly different around the site. Below is detailed instructions on how to add images to your Guide for each of those formats.
When creating a new Section, you'll notice a grey icon that looks like an image. This is where you can add a Section header image to your content. By simply click the empty image box, a new modal popup window will appear. Click the "Simply Click Here To Select A File" button, and then navigate to the image you wish to upload.
For Section header images, we recommend the image be at least 1000 pixels wide. Your Guide will auto-scale based on the viewing device, so providing large images helps to provide a better experience for high DPI devices like tablets, and displays.
Also, should you only upload one image for a Section header, that image will then be used for all Section headers within a Guide. You can, however, add new images for every single Section within your Guide. In fact, we recommend that you use a new image every single time, instead of recycling an image over and over again.
Removing images from Section headers is as easy as adding them. To remove an image from a Section, simply hover your mouse over the image, then click the "Delete Section Image" button. Clicking this button will remove the image from your Section.
As you've probably notice while trying to delete an image from a Section header, you can also replace a section header without having to delete, and then re-upload an image. Instead of clicking the "Delete Section Image" button, click the 'Upload A Section Image' button. This will then bring up the same dialog box as adding a new Section image in the beginning. At this point, your new image will replace the old image in the Section Header.
Adding an image within a Page is different than within a Section header. This time, instead of looking for an empty header image box, click the photography icon within the black WYSIWYG bar. The icon is sitting in the 11th position from the left.
Once again, clicking this icon will bring up a dialog box. Within this box you will be able to select between uploading an image directly to our servers, or linking to an existing image around the internet. Both options will result in the same end-goal - adding an image within your content.
Unlike in the Section headers, you can also edit images within your Pages. We've built in tools to let you turn images into links, and add titles to your images to assist text-readers. To access the image editing capabilities, click on the image, and then select the edit link.
Removing an image from within your Guide simpler than removing a Section header image. Simply treat the image as you would text, and place your text cursor after the image, and then hit the delete or backspace key on your keyboard.
You can also click on an image, and then hit the delete or backspace button to delete the image from within your content.
The last place you can add an image within a Guide is the Tips widget. Much like the steps for adding an image within a Page, the Tips widget will provide you with the tools you need to upload an image.
After opening your Tip, click on the picture icon (5th icon from the left), and go through the steps to add an image to your Tip. The steps are identical to adding an image to your Pages, so see above for more details.
Removing images from a Tip is exactly like removing an image from your Page. Edit the Tip by clicking the square icon with a pencil over it, then click on the image and hit the delete key to remove the picture.
