Asbestos and Vermiculite

Asbestos: An older home (built before 1980) may contain insulation that is wholly or partly asbestos (usually white or greyish-white in colour) and may be in a powder or semi-fibrous form.

Vermiculite: A yellow or brown mineral used for insulation or as a moisture-retentive medium for plants. Looks like cat litter. Some vermiculite insulation found in older homes may contain asbestos fibres.
