6.2.2 Describe heat loss/gain principles to determine design heating and cooling loads
Heat loss is based on the effective insulation value of all exposed surfaces for that climate zone as well as accounting for air leakage
Heat gains include external (solar) and internal (occupants, electrical loads etc)
Design heat loss is the energy required to maintain the design temperature in winter at the design outside temperature based on the climate zone.
Design cooling load is the energy required to maintain the design temperature in summer at the design outside temperature based on the climate zone.
