7.2.20 Describe data required to evaluate heat flow through the building envelope and calculate the conductive heat loss in a given example

The Dat required to evaluate heat flow through a building assembly includes

  • Area
  • Temperature difference
  • Thermal resistance
  • This can be calculated using
    • Conductive heat loss equation: Q=AxΔT/RSI (from CHBA 2.1.3)
      • Q is rate of heat flow in Watts (W)
      • A is Area of surface in m2
      • ΔT is Temperature Differential between inside and outside in °C
      • RSI is resistance to heat flow in m2 °C/W
