Question |
Response |
For the invoice requirement, should it say the model number AND the company OR the NRCAN model number? |
Thank you for catching that error. It should be "Make & model numbers for all windows and doors or the NRCan reference numbers or Certified Products Directory (CPD) number ". The slide deck linked above has been corrected. Please reference the sample invoice for windows and doors at https://www.betterhomesbc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/CleanBC_BetterHomes_Sample_Invoices_Window_Door-Oct01_2022.pdf. |
New rough openings do not qualify for the general program; does this apply to the IQP program as well? Related: When using existing rough openings, but homeowner is asking to have window to be changed to smaller, would that qualify? |
New rough openings are not eligible for either program. Yes. Larger or smaller new windows are eligible, as long as it is replacing an existing windows in an existing rough opening. |
Do you have any data on the success of the program so far? Related: In other words, how much of the total allocated funding available for the program in the aggregate has actually been utilized? Related: Is the program only set to continue until March 31st and an extension have a notification sent out with the three-month lead time? |
We can provide information on the number of rebates provided for 2022. We will update this question when the information is ready. Related: This information is not made available publicly. The utilities and province review budgets annually and they are currently well funded. We give at least 3 months notice to industry of any changes to the program, including funding changes or end dates. We don't send out extension notifications. The program is funded and there is no current end planned. As above, partners will give 3 months notice of any changes. |
Does a u-factor of less than 1.22 equate to solely triple glazed windows? |
No. That is not necessarily the case. We require that you reference the actual label on the window. |
Does an energy advisor need to dictate the u-factor under any circumstance? |
The energy advisor can recommend window upgrades but program requirements should be referenced to meet the provincial rebate program eligibility. For the federal Greener Homes Initiative, remember to refer to their program requirements. |
Regarding entrance doors without side-lites, is expanding the existing opening to accommodate a side-lite considered eligible? Related: If the door qualifies but the side-lite does not, is that eligible? |
Yes, we would accept. If the door is eligible, we would accept as one measure. If the side-lite is not eligible, the site lite would be excluded. Related: We would accept. If the door is eligible, we would accept as one measure. If the side-lite is not eligible, the site lite would be excluded. Some direct glaze sidelights may not qualify. Ensure you check with the manufacturer. |
Would there be considerations to have a higher U value for a door? Not too many door manufacturers are able to meet a 1.22 U value? |
We will take this question as feedback and consider it for future program changes, thank you. |
I don't know if it was mentioned, is the rebate program still available for windows and doors in Vancouver? |
Unfortunately, windows and door rebates are not available for the City of Vancouver. |
