Before heading out, make sure you know:

• The name of the area/community
• Your house/hotel/cottage/campsite address
• The nearest road access
• The nearest public landing/parking area
• How to describe your location if calling 911
• Whether you're travelling by road, boat, trail, etc.

It seems obvious, but this kind of awareness can be critical if calling 911.
