Here is a simple chakra meditation that you can do daily.
- Set yourself up in a comfortable chair, or on a cushion, in the
meditation posture.
- Close your eyes and take 3-6 deep breaths, allowing yourself to
fully relax.
- Begin to meditate on each of the chakras one at time. Imagine
the colour of the chakra (refer to the picture on the previous
page) and chant the matra "Aum" ( pronounced om ) silently or out
loud.
- Repeat the chant 5 - 10 times at each chakra point, depending
on the amount of time you are dedicating to the meditation.
- After you have completed your cycle of chanting, take 3 - 6
deep breaths to close off the meditation.
- When you are ready, open your eyes and allow yourself to slowly
adapt to the room once more.
There are other forms of meditation that involve focusing on the
chakras of the body. Kriya
Yoga is a technique that has been practiced for millennia by
yogis in India and around the world. Many other forms of yoga also
include meditations that involve focus on the chakras. (You can
find out more about yoga in the final section of this guide.)
