EENG 8222 - Run of River IPP will provide an introduction to the engineering, environmental, and socio-economic issues associated with run-of-river hydropower development. This course will cover: fundamentals of run-of-river hydropower; overview of run-of-river projects and comparison to other energy sources; fundamentals of hydrology; design of intakes, waterways and powerhouses; design of turbines, generators and transmission lines; geotechnical hazards and design considerations; project identification and optimization; environmental impact assessment; environmental compensation requirements; construction management; First Nations partnerships and other socio-economic considerations. *These are BCIT courses from outside of the Centre for Energy Systems Applications but whose content directly relates to the mandate of CESA. Please note that admission process may vary from course to course and in some cases these courses cannot be taken outside of the full program.
